Communal worship—worshipping together—is the heart of our faith tradition and celebrating the Eucharist, also known as Holy Communion or the Mass, is the heart of our worship services on Saturday evening and Sunday morning. Our liturgy (form of worship) is drawn from the Episcopal Church’s 1982 Book of Common Prayer and includes readings from the Bible and prayers in contemporary language, traditional and modern hymns in English and Hawaiian, and a sermon or homily based on the readings and the world around us. Sunday School is offered for children, who typically join us for Communion, but little ones are always welcome throughout the service.
We also regularly offer weekday Morning Prayer, which includes Bible readings and prayers, and evening prayer services during Lent and Advent. The Holy Week of Easter also includes special midday and evening services.
You can also join us for worship virtually via our Worship Online channel. Links to our service bulletins are posted online so you can follow along at home—or just let the holy words and wonder wash over you!
We celebrate Holy Eucharist in a variety of settings. In Waimea, Sunday worship takes place at 7:30 and 9:30 AM inside the church. The 9:30 AM service is also online at the links below. We also offer a Beach Mass at 5 PM Saturday at the end of the road in Kawaihae Small Boat Harbor. Like the 9:30 AM Sunday service, it's also available online live and recorded for later viewing.

Services at our mission church in Pa‘auilo on the rural Hāmākua Coast begin with the ringing of our newly restored church bell. We celebrate Holy Eucharist at 9:30 AM. The service follows the same order as those at St. James’ and includes blessings and hymns in English, Hawaiian and Ilocano, reflecting the diversity of our congregation, accompanied by the organ. All are welcome, including babies and children. The services are streamed live online and also archived so you can watch them anytime.

We offer Morning Prayer services six times a week, at 9 AM Monday through Saturday. The services are offered online only; all are recorded so you may watch them anytime. Priests and lay members lead this contemplative service of readings and prayers from a variety of settings, including the sanctuaries of St. James’ and St. Columba’s, the beach and their own homes.
