As a child growing up in CT in the forties and fifties, much of Marnie’s time was spent playing priest as she “celebrated the Eucharist” with her dolls and stuffed animals. At that time women were not ordained, so playing priest was pure fantasy until 1997, when she was made a Postulant for Holy Orders in the Diocese of VT. At the bishop’s request, she entered Episcopal Divinity School (Cambridge, MA) in the fall of 1997 and graduated in May of 2000, being ordained in Burlington, VT as a transitional Deacon the week before graduation. In December of that year, she was ordained Priest at Zion Church in Manchester VT, serving there as Associate Rector for two years.
In 2004, Marnie was called to be Vicar of St. Andrew’s Episcopal Church in Turners Falls, MA. When St. Andrew’s achieved full parish status a few years later, she served as Rector until moving with her husband to Waimea in the fall of 2015. For Marnie to find herself as Priest Associate in a parish with such a gifted rector whose vision and goal for ministry jives so well with her own, has been a great surprise and an even greater joy for which she gives God all thanks and praise!
